Retired Lieutenant Commander, USCG, Walter Daniel joins The BlackStar Companies as Director of West Coast Operations
Defense contractor, The BlackStar Companies (BlackStar) is excited to announce the launch of its West Coast division and that Walter Daniel has joined BlackStar as our Director of West Coast Operations.
In this position, Mr. Daniel plays a key role in meeting the company's aggressive growth goals as well as building on the firm's outstanding reputation for service and delivery to BlackStar clients.

Walter Daniel brings with him 20 years of leadership experience and knowledge of the defense industry. Walter is a second-generation military servicemember and retired in 2017 as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Coast Guard. During his military career he earned 3 Commendation Medals, 2 Achievement Medals, 3 Letters of Commendation and multiple team awards.
While stationed in Hawaii, Daniel was responsible for the budget and allocation of more than $80 million for Coast Guard operations, in addition to saving more than 40 lives and over $2.7 million in property. In his last assignment, he was the Chief of Enforcement for U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Francisco, and oversaw patrol boats, Tier I Port Waterways and Coastal Security boat stations and boarding teams.
During Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., Daniel was responsible for security planning and execution, deploying and coordinating Coast Guard and partner agency resources to ensure the security of the Maritime Transportation System and the safety of more than one million commuters, boaters and spectators to the San Francisco Bay Area.
With full responsibility for the leadership and development of BlackStar West Coast operations, Walter will play a key role in meeting the company's aggressive growth goals as well as building on the firm's outstanding reputation for service and delivery to our clients.

Daniels attended Hampton University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management in 2001. He also graduated with a Masters of Business Administration from Hawaii Pacific University in 2007.
